Shows

From EUTC Wiki

The EUTC have four types of production, that we produce year round. If your considering putting on a play it is important to decide which slot best suits your show.

Mainterms

Mainterm productions are shows which have a 5 night run, from Tuesday to Saturday. Mainterms usually begin at 7.30 in the evening and may, if they desire, request an additional mattinee performance on the Saturday of their run. Mainterms receive a significant budget, they can ask for upto £750 from the EUTC and can fundraise for any more that they need. Budgets are supposed to cover all elements of the show; publicity, set, tech hire and rights as well as any other costs that may be incurred. Mainterms, often have more adventurous set and tech plans and take priority over all other shows.

Lunchtimes

Lunchtime shows are traditionally shown on a Wednesday Lunchtime at 2.15pm. This is because the Edinburgh University has Wednesday afternoons off to allow students to pursue other activities. Lunchtimes have a smaller budget receiving £55 to cover the cost of rights and £35 to cover everything else. Lunchtimes are intended to give directors and crews the chance to experiment with theatre without to great a financial risk to the comapany.

Extraordinaries

Extraordinary shows are ones which don't meet either of the two catagories above. Extraordinaries can request any length of run, at any time. Extraordinaries may, in consultation with the Business Manager, request any budget which is suitable to the length of the run. Lunchtimes and Mainterms both take priority over Extraordinaries. Extraordinaries have been used to allow some very adventurous and exciting theatre, such as taking shows to other venues (Mort, Becket, Romeo and Juliet), they also allow regular, recuring performances such as the Improverts or NEWS Offensive

Fringe

These shows are different from the ones above in that they are for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and not for University term time. The Fringe Venue Manager will designate a number of slots to EUTC shows, usually 2 or 3. Fringe shows are much like extraordinaries except that they must negotiate with the Fringe team over set/tech and rehearsals. They may request any suitable budget.
